Went to Game Four Sunday night, watched Game Five tonight on the tube and listened to the local radio team on my CCRadio Plus...Sunday night the mood was grim...I said to the lovely Mrs. DeLorenzo on our way out to the door, that I would be in a much better frame of mind if the Eagles had lost to the Giants...It seems like, as many of us who have suffered over the years in Philadelphia sports have noted, we're not meant to win more than one big game in a single day...Charlie Manuel's logic seems to be over my head in the past two games, whether it's bringing in Brad Lidge or taking out Shane Victorino...Not to mention the gap in logic and common sense of Cole Hamels recent interview or nobody covering third Sunday night...Johnny Damon is a killer...Watching his at bats the past few nights I can't help but remember he came up in the Kansas City organization, hence the resemblance at times in his batting stance to George Brett -- Ah, the Charley Lau influence...I have no problem booing the Yankees, especially A-Rod, but I can never bring myself to boo Derek Jeter...It's like booing Dale Murphy, or Lou Gehrig...Not having watched too many Yankee games until very recently, I now can honestly say that I absolutely despise Jorge Posada...Best taunt/jeer I heard in section 146 Sunday night: "Jeter -- You Suck -- Mariah Carey left you for Nick Cannon."...Always a drama around the Phillies...Thank God for Chase Utley...Reggie Jackson, meet Chase Utley...My favorite player of the '70s has now been matched by my favorite player of this decade...In the movie of this year (I've got dibs on "The Bronx Is Not Burning Anymore"), howabout Ralph Fiennes as Cliff Lee?...Stay tuned for my indepth analysis of the curse of the 2nd year in the bullpen for Phillies closers...I'll be reviewing the past 10 years worth of media guides to bring to light my instincts of what happened to Brad Lidge this year is no different that what happened to Jose Mesa, Antonio (12 & 12) Alfonseca, Billy Wagner or Tom Gordon in their respective 2nd seasons as Phillies closers...And if I'm wrong, I owe you one...It says here the Phillies win Game Six Wednesday night behind a strong Pedro Martinez performance, and take it to extra innings for Game Seven with J.A. Happ starting, Cliff Lee pitching in short relief, followed by Brett Myers, Chan Ho Park, and the win going to Scott Eyre...Hey, it's no more far-fetched than Larry Bowa's claim that the Phillies are stealing signs...Just as long as Cole Hamels and Brad Lidge don't get anywhere near the mound at New Yankee Stadium...Until John Felske claims a role in the past two years of success for the Phillies, I'll see you in the stands!
