It's been a while since I last posted to
DeLorenzo's Dugout, but I'm pretty sure everyone who knows me, knows why...So, to borrow from former
Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Bill Lyons, here are some recent
"Sudden Thoughts and Second Thoughts" that have been on my mind...First of all, to all the Philly sports radio talk show hosts and "baseball experts" that are currently bombarding our airwaves with "we must sign
Roy Halladay," I have one thought: aren't you the same guys who said we had to sign
Alfonso Soriano a few years back, and also the same gang that insisted we had to re-sign
Billy Wagner? Still waiting for you guys to apologize for those two examples of your baseball expertise...I like the
Phillies lineup the way it is currently comprised, altho I miss
Chris Coste for sentimental reasons, and I wish
Eric Bruntlett and
Greg Dobbs could get a few more hits...Went to the game last night against the Cubs...My record at Citizens Bank Park for this season is ALMOST at .500...So I guess at the end we all feel badly about
Michael Jackson...Did anyone ever notice the similarities between the evil queen played by
Angelica Huston in
"Captain Eo" and the Borg Queen played by
Alice Krige in
"Star Trek First Contact?"...Still haven't seen the NEW
Star Trek movie, but it's more likely caused by my admiration for
William Shatner and my general disdain for following the crowd...Did see the new "indie" movie
"Moon" starring
Sam Rockwell, Sam Rockwell, and...
Sam Rockwell...If you're a fan of '70s-style sci-fi films like
"Silent Running" or TV shows like
"Space: 1999," or a fan of the great
Sam Rockwell, I highly recommend it -- I enjoyed it!...By the way, I still think
Sam Rockwell would have been a really cool
Captain Kirk if they had just gone a "little" older than the teeny-boppers they did go with...Since my dad's passing in April, I've been a little inundated, but we're slowly getting back to speed...I already miss
"Boston Legal," by the way, as well as
"The Unit," but I'm loving the current season of
"Law & Order Criminal Intent," including the always a favorite
Vincent D'Onofrio and the addition of the great
Jeff Goldblum...Who's not dead yet, by the way...
And before I forget, I must mention how much we enjoyed our recent excursions to see
Penn & Teller in Atlantic City, and
Norm MacDonald at
Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia -- both events were much-needed comic relief, with Norm in particular a night I won't soon forget...So, until
"Walk Hard" is recognized as one of the funniest movies of all time, I'll see you in the stands!
