Robocop Meets Dr. Bob Hartley & Other Movie Musings on Oscar Weekend

Now that a Robocop statue is closer to becoming reality in downtown Detroit, I think it’s time for a statue of Casper Van Diem, Denise Richards and Neil Patrick Harris in downtown Buenos Aires and a statue of Sharon Stone in her short white dress sitting on a park bench in San Francisco’s Embarcadero…I’d suggest saluting other Paul Verhoeven films but I’ve about run through my own personal list of favorites…Maybe a Rutger Hauer statue near the Bradbury building in Los Angeles?...Kind of like the Nick at Nite/TV Land tribute statues of Ralph Kramden outside the NY Port Authority Bus Terminal or the Dr. Bob Hartley office layout complete with treatment couch outside Chicago’s Navy Pier…Yep, that’s yours truly visit Derr Bob Hartley…Worst defeat in William & Mary history…As for the Oscars...King's Speech and Inception only two movies of note I saw in that list, so the rest of it's a toss-up as far as I'm concerned...I just want them to get the "In Memoriam" reel right this year...Peter Graves...Leslie Nielsen...Kenneth Mars...Charlie Callas...Jean Simmons...Lynn Redgrave...Harold Gould...Dennis Hopper...Jill Clayburgh...Robert Culp...James MacArthur...Kevin McCarthy...John Forsythe...Fess Parker...Tony Curtis...Patricia Neal...Barbara Billingsley...And please spare me the crocodile tears over Lena Horne...I'll see you in the stands (and at the movies!).
